The Rosettaa Stone of Mithras and Roman Milestone in the Sterzing City Hall

General description

The Mithras stone, depicting the Persian god of light Mithras, was discovered in 1589 near Mauls in Freienfeld. The original is housed in the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology in Bolzano, while a copy can be viewed in the light court of the Sterzing Town Hall, together with a Roman milestone of Septimius Severus (around 200 AD), which was discovered in Sterzing in 1979.
