The church was built between 1821 and 1824 and decorated with frescoes by Josef Renzler.

The building was constructed between 1821 and 1824 under the direction of Jakob Prantl. The frescoes were created by the painter Josef Renzler from St. Lorenzen. They depict, among other scenes, the Adoration of Christ and the beheading of Saint James (apostle and martyr).
