Campo di Trens / Freienfeld near Vipiteno
Campo di Trens/Freienfeld is located a few kilometres south of Vipiteno/Sterzing and was first founded in 1928 when the independent communes of Stilfes, Trens and Mauls were merged to create the commune of Campo di Trens/Freienfeld.
The most famous part of Campo di Trens/Freienfeld is without doubt the Maria Trens pilgrimage centre. Campo di Trens/Freienfeld lies 940 m above sea level, nestled in the midst of a breathtaking landscape. Thanks to its central location, the commune is the perfect base for excursions into the surrounding area as well as further afield.
The St.Oswald-Chirch of Mauls, built in 1329, is finally a must-see for art lovers.
